These Owego, NY homeowners were having issues in their attic. They were facing some moisture issues that was making the attic space moldy and the fiberglass batts showed the mold as a result of an attic space that was not properly vented or air sealed. We proposed to properly air seal the attic, spray our Mold-X spray on the roof deck to kill the spores and add 12 inches of TruSoft cellulose insulation to the attic flat. The rim joists were also sprayed with 2 inches of our closed cell spray foam to fill and seal off any gaps in the joists to prevent air leaking in to the home.
This Owego, NY tenant was experiencing a cold and drafty living room and dining room. Her energy bills during the winter were very high and wanted to have them lowered - meanwhile, in the summer time she found she had to run 3 A/C units to keep comfortable. The attic had a bit of blown in fiberglass insulation with fiberglass batts that sat on top of it. The rim joists of the basement/foundation walls were empty.
We contacted the landlord of the property, and received their permission to do the work to the home. Our production crew sprayed 2 inches of our Closed Cell Spray Foam in the rim joists of the basement to stop air from being able to flow into the home from the outdoors. We also sprayed 2 inches of Closed cell spray foam to the foundation walls which helped to seal any gaps and cracks and prevent air flowing in the basement of the home to make the air cooler in the winter and warmer in the summer.
This home in Owego, NY had the homeowners suffering year round due to lack of insulation. It was very cold in the winter, and very hot in the summer months. This house was unique in that in order to get to the attic, we'd have to make an entrance from outside the house.
For this project, we removed the siding from the top of the home and cut an access point for us to get in and air seal the attic space before we did an open blow of cellulose insulation in the attic space.
This old Owego farmhouse had several additions put on through the years, when our Certified Home Comfort Specialist first stepped in the door he noticed how cold the home was. The homeowner advised him the entire first floor was extremely cold, espcially during the winter.
We dense packed the slopes and the attic floor with Cellulose insulation once we airsealed around top plates, wire penetrations and light fixtures. The side attics were sprayed with 4 inches of our Closed Cell Spray Foam.
We then focused on the basement - where she had humidity issues. She stated she constantly had a small stream running through her dirt floor basement. We dug out a small area for the basin for the sump pump. Once we had the sump pump in place, we rolled out our 6 mil poly vapor barrier to the floor of the basement. We then adhered the barrier to the walls of the basement with our closed cell spray foam.
The owner of this newly constructed Owego, NY horse barn wanted a small area turned into conditioned space so he had somewhere to relax after riding.
After applying 2 inches of closed cell foam this area is now ready to be finished and will be a cozy place to relax after a ride.
