Owego, NY - TruSoft Cellulose Insulation

This Owego, NY homeowner had an attic full of fiberglass and vermiculite when we had our Home Comfort Evaluation. The homeowner removed all of the insulation from the attic himself leaving us with a fresh place to start with this project.

First, we air-sealed the attic space. This took quite a bit of time, as the attic was very large and unique to what we normally see. One part of the attic had a cathedral ceiling to it which we air-sealed as well. This attic also had two chimneys that we needed to address as well. We wrapped the chimneys with Rockwool insulation. Once the attic was fully air-sealed, we spray foamed the section of the attic with the cathedral ceiling with closed cell spray foam. For this, we sprayed 4 inches of foam in this small section and then sprayed our fireproofing over it. For the remainder of the attic, we did an open blow of our TruSoft cellulose insulation leaving 14 inches of TruSoft cellulose insulation in the homeowner's attic.

This Owego, NY customer was lacking insulation throughout the attic. We proposed to dense pack the floor of the attic so it could still be utilized for storage. We carefully removed the floor and dense-packed our TruSoft cellulose beneath the floorboards. We also air sealed the attic, ensuring that air the homeowner pays to heat and cool is not escaping the house. 2 inches of closed-cell spray foam was also sprayed into the rim joist of the basement, and we encapsulated the basement by laying down a vapor barrier and spray foaming the barrier to the wall.

These Owego, NY homeowners were having issues in their attic. They were facing some moisture issues that was making the attic space moldy and the fiberglass batts showed the mold as a result of an attic space that was not properly vented or air sealed. We proposed to properly air seal the attic, spray our Mold-X spray on the roof deck to kill the spores and add 12 inches of TruSoft cellulose insulation to the attic flat. The rim joists were also sprayed with 2 inches of our closed cell spray foam to fill and seal off any gaps in the joists to prevent air leaking in to the home.

Owego, NY - Closed Cell Spray Foam Foundation Walls

This Owego, NY tenant was experiencing a cold and drafty living room and dining room. Her energy bills during the winter were very high and wanted to have them lowered - meanwhile, in the summer time she found she had to run 3 A/C units to keep comfortable. The attic had a bit of blown in fiberglass insulation with fiberglass batts that sat on top of it. The rim joists of the basement/foundation walls were empty.

We contacted the landlord of the property, and received their permission to do the work to the home. Our production crew sprayed 2 inches of our Closed Cell Spray Foam in the rim joists of the basement to stop air from being able to flow into the home from the outdoors. We also sprayed 2 inches of Closed cell spray foam to the foundation walls which helped to seal any gaps and cracks and prevent air flowing in the basement of the home to make the air cooler in the winter and warmer in the summer.
