This Binghamton, NY homeowner had a small crawlspace that we proposed to encapsulate for him. First, we laid down the drainage mat and TerraBlock to the floor of the crawl space. We then laid the CleanSpace over top of the Terrablock. To make sure the CleanSpace stays in place, we used our closed cell spray foam to seal the CleanSpace to the edges of the crawl space. We used 3 inches of Closed Cell Spray foam on the walls to ensure that the CleanSpace stays intact.
This Binghamton, NY homeowner called us when she just couldn't stay warm during the cold winter months and was uncomfortable during the summer heat as well. Our free Home Comfort Evaluation showed that she had no insulation in her walls and attic space.
This customer met to Empower guidelines for income, so Empower was able to have this work done free of charge to the homeowner. We dense-packed her first and second stories of the home, as well as did some work in the attic.
For the attic, since she wanted to still be able to utilize the attic for storage, our crew did some decking for her. First, after doing some air sealing, the foam board was laid down on the existing floor and fastening plywood to the top. This allows her to still utilize a decent amount of attic space as storage. After constructing a dam of sorts, we were able to separate the attic into where we could do an open blow of our TruSoft cellulose insulation. We did an open blowing of 12 inches of TruSoft cellulose insulation into the attic for her. This will help keep the humidity of the attic down and make the customer more comfortable in her home overall.

In order to dense pack her home, we removed the siding with great care. We then drilled 2 and a half-inch round holes into the home for our hose to access. We then filled the cavity with our TruSoft cellulose insulation, and we test to make sure it's densely packed before moving on to the next hole. If we can't indent into the filled cavity, then we know that it's properly dense-packed. Once all of the holes have been packed with our TruSoft cellulose insulation, we carefully plug the holes using Cedarwood plugs and seal around it. We then carefully replace the siding and you never know we were there on the outside!
This Cape Cod style house in Binghamton, NY was lacking insulation in the attic. The homeowners were tired of it being extremely hot in the summer and so cold in the winter that they were having to sleep downstairs because they couldn't tolerate the freezing cold temperatures of the second floor. We proposed to resolve this issue for these homeowners.
The dormers of this cape cod were filled with Fiberglass batts. We removed the inadequate insulation, and in the slopes we used our TruSoft Cellulose insulation to dense pack the slopes, we then used our Closed Cell Spray Foam for the rim joists, and sprayed 3 inches of closed cell spray foam to the roof deck of the home, creating a tight seal where air is no longer escaping from the home leaving the homeowners cold in the winter and hot in the summer.
These homeowners not only have a more comfortable home, but their heating and cooling costs will also see a decline as it will not cost them as much to heat and cool their home now that we have insulated the attic properly.
These Binghamton, NY homeowners were striving for a warmer home year round, but there were additions put on the home with no heat supplies making adjacent rooms extremely cold and uncomfortable for the homeowners. The attic of the addition had no insulation in it at all, allowing the air that the homeowners were paying to heat to escape right through the roof due to stack effect. There was also a bedroom above the garage that was extremely cold in the winter months.
We proposed a few solutions to the homeowner after our Certified Home Comfort Advisor completed his free Home Comfort Evaluation for the home. The solutions included filling the empty rim joists with our closed cell spray foam, using our Tru-Soft cellulose insulation to dense pack the attic deck so the attic could still be utilized for storage and spraying our closed cell spray foam on the garage ceiling, as well as an open blow in the attic of the addition of our Tru-Soft cellulose insulation.
