These Binghamton, NY homeowners wanted to have a more comfortable home for their granddaughter who lives with them. They were experiencing quite a chilly home in the winter months, where they would have to run not one, but two pellet stoves to keep the house warm, they weren't satisfied with the high cost of heating the home so they called us to see if we could help.
Our Home Comfort Evaluation found a few different ways we could help these homeowners with their home. We proposed to spray foam the rim joists. We also did an open blow of our TruSoft cellulose insulation in the attic space.
This Binghamton, NY homeowner had an oil furnace that was no longer working, and he couldn't afford a new furnace so he was running 3 natural gas heaters in the home mounted to the walls, and a basement that constantly got water inside it. The homeowner was running a dehumidifier to try to prevent mold growth due to the humidity. The homeowner wanted to maintain the ability to store things in the attic space, which had 3 inches of fiberglass batts at the time of our Home Comfort Evaluation.
We proposed to air seal the attic space - sealing around all light fixtures, wire penetrations, gaps, and top plates and adding 12 inches of Cellulose Insulation. We built a storage deck for this customer, which was custom built, to ensure he would still have adequate storage space without sacrificing insulation.
This home in Binghamton, NY was a coordinated project with NYSERDA and AHP.
The attic was reached from accessing a closet on the second floor, which we sprayed 3 inches of Closed Cell spray foam to the roof deck. The entire basement wall also was spray foamed, as well as the rim joists to prevent air seeping in through the basement walls and escaping from the roof.
This Binghamton, NY home had an addition to the home that had a plumbing leak which made the ceiling collapse.
We proposed to gut the rest of the ceiling and spray 4 inches of our Closed Cell Spray Foam to the roof deck to insulate and spray our thermal fire proof paint over the spray foamed roof deck.
