Endicott, NY - Cellulose Insulation

This Endicott, NY homeowner wanted to make further improvements tol the attic insulation, as well as a corner of the basement.

In the basement, there was some old fiberglass batts that had fallen down, we removed the fiberglass and spray foamed 3 inches of our Closed Cell Spray Foam to the floor joists. We then coated this in our fireproof paint. We then turned our focus to the attic space. We air sealed the attic first, sealing any gaps and cracks, around top plates, wire penetrations and light fixtures. We then did an open blow of 14 inches of Cellulose insulation to the attic flat, which will help this homeowner lower their heat and utility bills by having a properly sealed and insulated home.

Endicott NY - Closed Cell on Foundation Walls

This homeowner in Endicott, NY had heard about the work we do with the NYSERDA program and wanted to see what they may qualify for in making their home more energy efficient and potentially cut down on their utility bills. We began with our Home Comfort Evaluation to see what all was happening in the home and what existed in the home to make it less energy efficient. Our Home Comfort Specialist determined there was work needed to help the home be more comfortable in the attic and basement. We did some air sealing in the attic, sealing around the sill plates, wire penetrations, and light fixtures before dense packing the attic slopes with cellulose insulation, then doing an open blow of 18 inches of our cellulose insulation to lessen the heat escaping from the attic in winter.

We then turned our focus to the basement. This home has a rock foundation, and over time gaps and cracks have formed along the wall allowing air to be drawn in from the outside which travels throughout the home making the home colder. For this home, we sprayed 2 inches of our Closed Cell Spray Foam into the open rim joists to seal them, then sprayed 2 inches of our spray foam along the foundation walls creating a seal. We finished off by spraying our fire proofing paint on the spray foam, and now the home is much more comfortable and energy efficient than before.
