This Endicott, NY homeowner wanted to improve the comfort of the home for himself and his daughter. The upstairs of the home was a great concern, as the bedrooms always felt colder than the downstairs. Our Home Comfort Evaluation showed that the walls of the home lacked insulation and that the open attic space was a huge cause for heat loss as well.
We air sealed the attic - sealing wire penetrations, top plates, and light fixtures before wrapping the chimney with our Rockwool insulation so we could safely do an open blow of 14" of our cellulose insulation into the attic. We also dense-packed the exterior walls with cellulose insulation by carefully removing the siding from the home, drilling holes just slightly bigger than our hoses to fit, and packing the wall cavities with cellulose insulation. We then sealed the holes, plugged them with a cedar wood plug, and carefully replaced the siding.
As a result, this home is much more comfortable and energy-efficient!
The owner of this Endicott, NY home uses his garage as a workshop. It was too cold to work there in the winter.
We sprayed 2 inches of closed-cell foam on the garage's interior walls and 3 inches on the floor deck of the garage ceiling, improving the comfort level of his shop. The homeowner was also very happy with how the foam looked and was pleased that he didn't have to sheetrock the area.

We started by removing the old insulation from the attic. The attic was air sealed and rock wool insulation was applied to the chimney. With the addition of blown-in cellulose insulation, the amount of conditioned air escaping through the attic was reduced dramatically.
